Vintage HairstylesWith so many hair trends coming and going, you might find it difficult to find your own unique style. There are many classic hairstyles that might work best for you, and a vintage style might end up giving you the fresh, unique look you crave! Whether it’s for your daily style, a change of pace or a special occasion like a wedding, these styles might be worth looking into!

The Bob

The Bob is a classic cut that can go from a vintage look to one that is more modern.  Vintage inspired looks can range from a curly, Great Gastby-inspired bob to a blunt, flapper-type cut.  If you have longer hair, you can experiment with a faux bob by making a very low pony tail, then turning the ends of your hair under and pinning them for a look that is popular on the red carpet.

The 60’s flip

The sixties was a decade of strong fashion, instantly recognized in hairstyles like the That Girl hair flip worn by actresses like Marlo Thomas. The sixties hair flip can easily be experimented with if you have shoulder length hair by reverse-curling your ends with a round brush or large-barrel curling iron and teasing it in the crown to add fullness.

French Twist

The French twist was popularized in the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s, but is often still seen today in formal events.  To try this simple updo, gather hair into a ponytail and twist upwards until it creates a twist against your head. Then secure with pins or combs.  You can also create a looser, messier look with this style that can be worn more casually.

Pixie Cut

Mia Farrow and Audrey Hepburn both wore this classic style with ease and grace. The pixie cut is a trendy look today popularized by stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron, but going so short is a bold move for many!  Try it first with long bangs for a contemporary look, but for true vintage style a short all-over cut (complete with baby bangs) is the way to go!

Trying a New, Old Style

Experimenting with your hair can be daunting, but going against the trends with a classic, vintage look can really help you find your own unique style!
