Many of us spend the summer fighting frizz in the heat and humidity, but now that we finally have cooler temps it is time to go BIG with our hair.

Some of us are blessed with fluffy locks, but for the rest of us, there are simple ways to get hair that is large and in charge.

Follow these tips and enjoy your fuller looking hair this fall!

Short hair

If your hair is shoulder-length or shorter, you might have less to work with, but the plus side is you don’t have to worry about it getting weighed down.

If your hair is fine or thinning, you might want to start with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner that is specially made for thinning hair. After washing, spritz a light volumizing spray on the wet strands, then blow dry your hair upside down, focusing the hair at the roots.

Instead of finishing off with heavy styling products, tousle it with your fingers or mist on a light spray to keep it pumped up.

Long, curly hair

If your hair is long, it might be more easily weighed down, but you also have much more to work with to make it look super full. Making long hair full is easiest when you have a little texture naturally – the key is to work with this and not make it look over-styled.

Start with plenty of moisture in the shower – hydrating shampoos and conditioners will make your waves nice and soft. Then, apply a frizz-fighting cream after the shower and let your hair air dry. You can also blow dry, but use a diffuser to prevent direct heat on your cuticle (which can cause frizz).

Long, straight hair

Women with long unruly curls may complain about frizz, but those of us with long, straight hair can have an even harder time adding body. You have plenty to work with, but those super-shiny strands tend to have trouble holding a curl.

The best way to force waves and volume into stick-straight strands is to let your hair dry in a bun. After washing, apply a volumizing product to your hair and twist it into a low, loose bun. Let it dry naturally or use a hairdryer with a diffuser, then undo the bun once hair is dry and tousle the waves with your fingers. If you have time or want to put in a bit more effort, take a curling iron to a few strands to make your overall look more polished.

To add a little volume to your crown, back-brush your hair using a flat-backed brush with bristles that are wide apart.
