We all have bad hair days — more often than not, it can seem! A bad hair day can destroy all your self confidence. Luckily, there are ways to cope:

You know those days – the ones where you wake up with an awkward cowlick, or when the humidity outside just won’t let up. Bad hair days happen to everyone. Fortunately, I have compiled some easy ways to add glamour and class to even the most poorly behaved tresses.

Humidity: Hair’s Mortal Enemy

If you’re like me and your hair can’t decide whether it’s curly, wavy or straight, humid days are almost a surefire bad hair day. The best option in these cases is to pull your hair back tight into an updo.

•   Top knot. Whether your hair is curly, straight or something in between, a bun high up on the crown of your head is one of the best, carefree looks that humidity can’t kill. It’s also a great solution to bangs that won’t behave and gives your face an instant lift.

The trick is to use a texturizing spray on dry hair, scrunching certain sections to create body. Gather your hair into a high ponytail and tousle it, then twist sections and tuck them, securing with bobby pins. Spray all over with humidity-blocking hairspray to keep flyaways at bay.

Fancy It Up

This is one of the most dire situations – you need to look put together and elegant,  but your hair is simply not willing to cooperate with the style you had in mind. Pulling it back and adding a little something different in the back might be the solution for you.

•   Mini rosettes. Comb hair away from your face – depending on your bad hair day woe, you can part it to cover cowlicks or smooth it all straight back to cover other issues. Divide your hair into three sections in the back, then secure each one with an elastic, creating three small, low ponytails.

One at a time, twist the ponytails and wrap them around the elastic into a bun, securing each one with bobby pins. Then spray with a strong hold hairspray to keep it classy all night long.

Cowlicks – sigh

Cowlicks are one of the most impossible hair issues to work around. If you have time, wet down that section of your hair and blow dry it straight again. If you don’t have time to do this, you have to get creative with coverage.

•   Deep side part pony. Cowlicks are most typical along the hairline, which of course makes them harder to hide. If you have one on one side, try making a deep part so the thick side of your hair covers it, then pull all your hair into a low ponytail and secure it tightly with an elastic.

If you have cowlicks all along your hairline, the top knot might be a good look to try, since it unifies all waves and curls into one, I-did-it-on-purpose, textured look.

Quick Fixes

One of the best ways to deal with a bad hair day is to distract from the bad parts. Braids, no matter where they are, tend to draw attention. People will be so impressed by your hair weaving skills, they won’t notice a few greasy strands! The key to these is a mousse before you braid to keep flyaways in place.

•   Side braid. If your hair is long, you might be able to distract from the parts of your mane that are bothering you by sweeping it all into a loose, romantic side braid. Plus, loose strands only make this hairstyle prettier.

•   Braided crown. If your hair is short (or if you only hate the front today), weave the front section into a tiny French braid along your hairline. You can continue this all the way around if you want to pull all of your hair up.
