Extra hydration is the key to getting soft and smooth hair. You might be experiencing dry hair because of personal dehydration, dry air, and seasonal weather, or damaged hair due to excessive use of chemicals or hot tools to style your hair. Dry hair can make your hair look and feel lifeless and it can result in frizz, split ends and a dull style. One of the quickest ways to heal your dry and dull locks is to get new products to step in and heal your hair quickly. Here are some of the best types of products to look for to help reduce dry hair and maintain a soft and smooth mane:

First of all, you may want to switch up your shampoo and conditioner. Choose a hydrating duo that works well together. We recommend Deep Hydration Scalp Stimulating Shampoo and Deep Hydration Volumizing Conditioner. You can also look for shampoos and conditioners that contain shea butter or oils that will help hydrate your hair quickly. When you wash and condition your hair, remember to be gentle and don’t scrub your hair and don’t be rough with it with a towel or comb afterward either.

Next, you’ll want to get some deep hydration with a deep conditioner or a hair mask. There are many versions where you can use in the shower, after the shower or even overnight for silky smooth locks.

Before you style, you’ll want to make sure your hair gets extra hydration and is also protected from further heat and damage. Make sure to use a heat protectant spray or cream before you use any hot tools like a hair dryer, straightener or curling iron. If you can, simply limit your use of any hot styling tools and let your hair dry naturally to help revive and re-hydrate it.

If your hair has become frizzy or you have split ends from your dry hair, try using an oil-enriched spray or serum to tame your ‘do. Try our Marula Oil Hair Mist which will add moisture, shine and reduce that brittle feeling of dry hair very quickly.

If you find your hair is extremely dry and full of split ends, make sure to get a quick trim from a professional to freshen up your style.

I am currently using Keranique products for thinning hair, but I have recently had a permanent, and my hair seems very brittle and dry. Should I change from the “re-growth” products I am using until my hair regains its normal consistency?

    • Keranique Hair says:

You can use the Minoxidil on both permed and color-treated hair. We recommend that you do not use Minoxidil on the same day your hair is colored or treated with permanent wave chemicals.

We do not recommend stopping the regrowth treatment as, continued use of the Keranique® System is needed to maintain your new hair growth. Without consistent application of the Keranique® Hair Regrowth Treatment with 2% Minoxidil, the normal hair loss process will resume in 3 – 4 months. Your hair won’t be worse off than it was before but it will revert back to that thinning state without continued use of the product. Visible volume and healthier looking hair can be yours with consistent use of the entire Keranique System.

If your hair is brittle and dry we recommend our shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo removes impurities and buildup, while our conditioner adds body and volume without leaving a heavy, waxy and coated feel on the hair or scalp. If you have dry or coarse or very curly hair, try using our Deep Hydrating shampoo and conditioner formulas or also our Keranique Marula Hair Oil for added moisture. You can also warm the oil and leave it in your hair for a few more minutes as a hot oil treatment. Also try blow drying your hair using a medium to low setting.
